It is I, Do Not Be Afraid
In this worship service, Pastor Grant Gilliam continues his series, "John - The Soul of the Savior" with this Sermon entitled, "It is I, Do Not Be Afraid."
The Sermon text is John 6:16-21.
Sermon Notes:
Jesus calms our fear by identifying himself - by showing us who he is. He calms our fears:
- By His Presence - He doesn't leave them to get to the other side on their own. He goes toward them in a supernatural way.
- By His Power - Jesus' miracles and signs show His Sovereign control over all things. The wind and waves - all the chaos - answer to Him.
- By His Promises - "It is I" - stating that He is the "I AM" - the one who brings salvation. "Do not be afraid" is a commandment. Though this is a command, it is a gentle command. And through His promised Holy Spirit, He enables us to follow and trust Him, without fear.
It is good to ask the Holy Spirit where we have crossed the line and let our fears and anxiety take over our minds and hearts. He can help build our trust in Him and calm our fears.
Note: There are a few sound glitches in the music portion of the service, but the sermon sound is intact.
