The Gospel Gift of Assurance
I know Whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day. Probably it’s underlined in all our Bibles and anchored with the hymn. We continue our renewal series, Kindle Afresh the Gift, taking a closer look at the kindling of the Gospel Gift of Assurance so powerfully expressed by the apostle Paul. Timothy was not a back-slidden believer but a faithful and sincere servant of the Gospel. Paul was not writing to chide him but to prepare and encourage him for the trials and challenges that were before him. The gift of God was evident in his life but also at risk of growing dim. Paul encourages him (and us) to stir up to brighter flame, the gift of God that is in us. What was it that needs fresh kindling? What does fresh-kindled look like? How can we get it?
