Foreshadows of Christmas: Shadows of Rejoicing!
In this worship service, Pastor Grant Gilliam continues his 2025 Advent Series, "Foreshadows of Christmas," with this sermon entitled "Shadows of Rejoicing!"
The sermon text is: Zephaniah 3:14-20.
Sermon Notes:
"Joy springs from knowing the value of what God has given us." - Derek Thomas
Do we undervalue the gift of Jesus?
Zephaniah wants to instill in us joy for the coming King.
We Can Rejoice in Our Salvation Because:
- There is no more condemnation for you. Your judgments have been taken away. They have been put on Christ in your place. We will see the value of the gift when we have the right view of sin.
- There is no more fear of evil for you. There is a mighty King in our midst who will dwell with us. Emmanuel! When faced with fear, we need to remind ourselves of Truth. Christ will win! We know how the story ends.
- There are no more questions of God's love for you. Zephaniah 3:17 - the John 3:16 of the old testament. The Lord doesn't just love His people. He likes them, too. Where do you doubt God's love for you? Is it in pain and suffering? Is it after you've sinned? When you are tempted to doubt God's love for you, resist Satan! Do not doubt God's great love for you. What would your rejoicing sound like? What would you say? Write it out.
