A Troubled Marriage And Family

Speaker:
Passage: Genesis 29:1-20; 31:36-42
Service Type:

Hang on to the last words I read, If God had not been for me, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed.  A man of troubles yet powerfully used of God.  Sibling rivalry from the womb, destined to overcome his older brother, Jacob deceived his brother and stole the birthright, deceived his father and stole the inheritance that would have become his anyway.  Fleeing his brother’s anger, alone along his journey, God appeared to him, and Jacob was encountered by God.  Continuing his journey with a new-found faith in God, lo and behold he meets a beautiful girl, they fall in love, and there is the prospect of a happily ever after.  But within a few short chapters we find the father-in-law pursuing our hero with murderous intent.  What happened--so we can avoid it?  Where is God when our lives are a mess?
